Terms of Service

Effective August 18, 2026. This is the same document shown inside the app (Settings → Legal). If they ever differ, the in-app copy players accepted governs their use.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the developer of Lexi: Vocabulary Crosswords ("Lexi", "we", "us"). By tapping Agree in the app, or by using Lexi, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not use Lexi.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Lexi's online features (multiplayer, leaderboards, profiles, messaging). If you are under the age required by the laws of your country to consent to online services, a parent or guardian must review and accept these Terms for you.

3. Your account and profiles

Lexi identifies your account through your device's iCloud account and an anonymous authentication token; no password is created. You may create multiple learner profiles under one account. You are responsible for activity that occurs through your device and account. Display names must not impersonate other people or contain offensive content.

4. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Lexi on Apple devices that you own or control, subject to these Terms and Apple's App Store terms. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the app binary; where it conflicts with these Terms regarding the license to the software itself, Apple's agreement controls.

5. Subscriptions and purchases

Lexi offers an optional Premium subscription (monthly, quarterly, or yearly) and may offer one-time purchases. Payment is charged to your Apple ID through the App Store. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage or cancel them in your device's App Store subscription settings. Prices may change with notice; changes apply at the next renewal. Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policies. Promotional grants (for example referral rewards or early-supporter lifetime access) are provided at our discretion, are not purchases, have no cash value, and may be modified or revoked if obtained through fraud or abuse of these Terms.

6. Referral codes and gift keys

Referral codes and gift keys may be shared person-to-person. Generating, redeeming, or trading them at scale, through automation, or between accounts you control in order to farm rewards is prohibited and may result in removal of granted entitlements or account restrictions.

7. User content and conduct

Lexi lets you publish content other players can see: display names, avatars, profile details, comments, and direct messages ("User Content"). You keep ownership of your User Content, and you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and transmit it as needed to operate the service.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. You agree not to post or send content that is harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, violent, discriminatory, deceptive, infringing, or that reveals another person's private information; not to impersonate others; not to spam; and not to use Lexi for any unlawful purpose.

8. Moderation, blocking, and reporting

You can report other users and their content from their profile, and block users account-wide; blocking hides their messages, comments, and interactions from you. We review reports and may remove content, restrict features, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our sole discretion and without prior notice. 9. Public features

Leaderboards, public profiles, the player directory, profile comments, presence indicators, and multiplayer lobbies display your chosen name, avatar, and gameplay statistics to other users. You control profile visibility and whether you accept direct messages in your profile settings. Do not use public features to share personal information you want kept private.

10. Fair play

You agree not to interfere with the service: no attempts to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' data, no reverse engineering except where the law permits it notwithstanding this clause, no automated access, and no manipulation of scores, streaks, unlocks, or referral rewards.

11. Intellectual property

Lexi, including its artwork, characters (including Lexi Constella), word data, puzzles, and software, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the license above and your own User Content, no rights are granted to you.

12. Termination

You may stop using Lexi at any time; deleting your profiles removes their public presence. We may suspend or terminate your access to online features if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 7, 11, 13, 14, and 15) survive.

13. Disclaimers

Lexi is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Online features depend on third-party services and networks we do not control, and may be modified, interrupted, or discontinued at any time.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, progress, virtual items, or goodwill, arising from your use of Lexi. Our total liability for all claims relating to Lexi is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and USD 50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your User Content, your use of Lexi in violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. For material changes, Lexi will present the updated Terms in-app and ask you to accept them before continued use of online features. The effective date above reflects the latest revision.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state of the developer's residence, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these Terms limits consumer rights that the law of your country of residence grants you and that cannot be waived by contract.
